Ursuit

Ursuk's story began in 1964 in Turku, Finland. The shop carried everything from diving cylinders, snorkels and fins to, at the time, state-of-the-art neoprene wetsuits. The back room of the shop served as a factory in which the suits were hand cut for each customer individually.

The 1970s saw a continuation of the era dominated by neoprene. The 3-mm suits were an absolute hit among the bell-bottom crowd who loved water sports. One of the company's great prides was its line of fashionably designed windsurfing suits.

With time, and growing success, Ursuk conquered new market areas. Lined neoprene, which made the suits even more durable, was added to the already impressive selection. Soon the company had grown so much that it was forced to move to new premises, which became its headquarters for the next 35 years. With the confidence gained from past successes, Ursuk also signed its first export deal, with the Swedish company Watski.

In the 1980s, product development continued, and the company's range came to include the 6h SOLAS immersion suits. The next decade, in turn, saw the focus shift to more breathable and comfortable dry materials. The new millennium brought with it Heavy Light, the diving dry suit. In 2004, Ursuk patented one of its innovations, a two-piece sailing dry suit. And if you think that's the end of it, think again. The company continues to expand and prosper.
